The "COAL" series uses an original heathered canvas fabric with a unique firmness. The fabric, woven with "yotsumokui-ito" (four-ply heathered yarn) made by twisting together four threads of different colors, has a deep hue that cannot be achieved with single-colored yarn. "Moku" refers to the unique and beautiful pattern that appears in the grain of wood, and has been prized since ancient times. By twisting dyed yarn that has been dried with water and raw silk together and weaving it at high density, the canvas fabric has a firm stiffness and a smooth feel unique to twisted yarn, and as it is used, it changes to a supple texture. Cowhide is used for parts that serve as design accents, such as the handles and triangular gussets. By slowly loosening the leather fibers in a drum, a natural grain is brought out, and the original texture and feel of the leather are utilized. The handles are wrapped around the leather, making them easy to hold and comfortable to grip. In addition, the leather and metal fittings are matched to the color of the fabric.
