PORTER GLUE is a leather accessory series focused on beautiful finishes and thinness, crafted using a technique called "beta-gaki," in which two thin pieces of leather are glued together. Lightweight and slim, these items are designed for business, travel, and other occasions. Crafted from extremely thin leather (0.5mm to 0.6mm thick), they're thin enough to slip unnoticed in the inside pocket of a suit jacket. The "beta-gaki" process, in which two pieces of leather are carefully glued together with a thin, even layer of glue, requires advanced craftsmanship to prevent the leather from lifting or wrinkling. The resulting piece becomes a single piece, with grain on both sides, resulting in a thin yet durable, firm, and supple leather. To achieve a beautiful finish, the edges are carefully trimmed vertically and meticulously polished repeatedly with dye to achieve a natural luster. The outer leather is made from Italian kip leather (cowhide between 6 months and 2 years old). The leather is dyed in a base color, then deeply embossed, and then dyed one shade darker on the raised areas for a two-tone finish, creating a richer color. Scratches are less noticeable with this embossed leather, and the semi-aniline finish, which uses both dyes and pigments, means the color won't fade easily. The back leather is made from firm, combination-tanned cowhide.
